Dirt racers are back in action as area tracks in the Southeast have opened for practice and to kick off their 2013 seasons. Carolina Speedway in Gastonia opened on March 8-9 with the Skyler Trull Memorial and racers were back for week two on March 15. Some of the highlights and results:

Larry Trull along with his father Lowry Trull were grateful for the racers and crowds that turned out for the 13th Annual Skyler Trull Memorial. Fans released pink balloons and super late model driver Doug Sanders drove two memorial laps before the Carolina Clash super late model main event to honor the memory of Larry’s daughter Skyler and his mom, Pat.

“Mom passed away last March the 4th. She was a very inspirational part of the Skyler Trull Memorial. It’s kind of hard not to look over and not see her with her beads on, passing out beads to those who come through the gate, “said Trull who donated the money collected to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in South Carolina. “It’s great to see kids have a good time. That’s what it’s all about. It’s about the fans and the drivers.” Read On!
