Did you see the big stock car race last Saturday night? The one that was held on a big and fast speedway and sanctioned by NASCAR? The race from North Carolina, near the towns where many of the race team’s shops are? Either on television or in person?
I didn’t.
Oh, I tried. Believe me, I tried. But the folks who work at the big and fast speedway wouldn’t let me access to the places I need to work and report on it for Motorweek LIVE!
The worst part of the ordeal? They said I would have access. Then when I arrived they told me I did not.
Allow me to explain. Members of the media can make requests for credentials to cover an event. Credentials give one access to the media center and/or the press box. The decision to approve the requests is up to the speedway.
I made a request to the track that held the nationally televised NASCAR race Saturday night. I waited for their response. That response would dictate whether I attended the event. Would you go to a race not knowing if there was a ticket available to you? I didn’t think so.
